SpyMac Launches Free 1GB Email

Close on the heels of Google’s announcement of free 1GB email accounts, SpyMac just announced they too will offer 1GB email accounts for free.  The difference is that SpyMac’s service isn’t beta, is open to everyone and will have no message scanning for ads, like Google’s.

I’ve gone and checked out their announcement and the flurry of comments on their site.  It looks great, except that IMAP support isn’t there yet.  Having 1GB of space for POP accounts is a waste.  SpyMac says IMAP support will be coming soon.  Once that happens, I imagine there will be a huge flood of people who sign up.

I’m interested in signing up so I can get rid of my ancient Hotmail and Yahoo email addresses.  Before I do though, I’d like to see a screenshot or two of what their email interface looks like.

Yeah, I’m also looking forward to having more 1GB accounts. Walla! (www.walla.com) does offer 1GB of storage but all of the forwarded messages sent to me cannot be retrieved!
