SpyMac Mail Screenshots

I decided I’d sign up for the free 1GB email account at SpyMac to see what it looks like and to compare it with Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.  What I found didn’t impress me at all.

SpyMac Mail

The interface is quite spartan, but not in a good way.  Things feel very disjointed and hastily slapped together.  The icons are gigantic to the point of being absurd.  There are ads, but not targeted ones like in Google’s Gmail.

The back-end of the service seems to be based on Perl.  Server responsiveness seemed a little sluggish and page loading times took a little while, even on my fast DSL connection (150k/sec).

All-in-all, I’m completely underwhelmed by the new service from SpyMac.  If they want to attract more users from all over the place, they’re going to need to make things look much more professional.  Yahoo Mail has a decent interface that is intuitive, attractive, customizable and useable.

Interestingly, I can only get mail from other spymac email users so far. I’ve tried several test mails from several locations, and nothing so far. Found your site by googling “spymac mail” Peace

I’ve used spymac but recently I haven’t been able to open my spymac mail inbox. It’s not difficult to open spymac home but just impossible to enter.

Check out the latest Zimbra mail – AJAX based webmail. Its perhaps the BEST email webclient I have seen. I am sure, you guys will agree with me.

Try their flash-demo and also hosted-demo.
