Tears of the Sun

We bought the Tears of the Sun DVD today.  I’ve seen it already, but it’s an excellent movie so it’s worth owning.  I think it’s one of Bruce Willis’ best movies.  Excellent music, action, story… and Monica Belluci is in it.  What more can a movie have?

There are some things that I didn’t like about it.  One being that Monica Belluci is wearing lipstick throughout the entire movie.  Another is that Bruce Willis is what, 50 years old?  Are there lieutenants that old in the military?  Other than that, I thought it was great.

There are some scathing reviews of it on IMDB.com.  I’m not sure why.  I guess a war movie must show soldiers as a little nuts and the generals as distant, uncaring and cold in order to be a “good war movie”.  Whatever.  Did it do well in the theaters?

If you want to see a good action movie with a soul, then this is it.

I’m pretty picky about which Bruce Willis movies I’ll watch, but this one does look interesting. And I’ve never heard of Monica Belluci before, but I guess I’ll get my first look at her on the big screen as Mary Magdalene, when the Mel Gibson movie “The Passion” comes out in the spring.

Yeah, “The Passion” looks like it’ll be an interesting movie. I’ll be checking it out when it hits the theaters, if it gets here.

i’ve seen tears of the sun and it is rather good. with regard to bruce willis being 50 i think it’s assumed that he can pass for being between 25-34 so average military age providing he has a shaved head and runs around shouting a lot, which he does, so like die hard only in the african jungle really.

You can also see Ms. Belluci in “Brotherhood of The Wolf.” It’s a kickass story based the legend of Gevaudon ( I probably didn’t spell that right ) about a beast that was terrorizing the French countryside. Christoph Gans directed it and it’s a visually stunning film. Pre-French Revolution Kung Fu is a little hard to swallow, but the direction and cinematography make me forgive that. Also, it’s good to hear Gans is directing “Silent Hill,” my favorite video game of all time.
