A few days ago, Moammar Gaddafi made a beauty pageant contestant from America a Libyan citizen, gave her a Libyan passport and named her honorary consul to the US. The contest was the Miss Net World beauty contest where people from around the world voted for their favorite.
After I read the article, I was trying to figure out why Gaddafi would do something like that. I did a little searching, and found out why Gaddafi did it. It turns out that while the 19 year old Miss Zendik was seated next to him, Gaddafi decided to bash America and trash talk then American president Ronald Reagan. This made Miss Zendik break down into tears, which caught Gaddafi off guard. He must’ve felt really bad about it, because he immediately apologized and hugged her. Then the next day she became the belle of the ball, even though she didn’t win. Gaddafi asked her to appear on TV and be a goodwill ambassador in Africa’s fight against AIDS. And now, he’s made her a citizen and consul to the US! Several bystanders noticed that Gaddafi kept putting his hand on Zendik’s knee while she was next to him. Gaddafi bustin’ a move!! Hmmm… makes for an interesting story, that’s for sure.
It is nice to know that Qadhafi is thinking with at least one of his brains. I hope Zendik realizes that she became a two way puppet, one for political reasons, and one for “personal” reasons. I wonder if she gets jealous of any of the female bodyguards. Zendik is only 19 years old? Wow! I am 20 and I have more of an education than she does or at least when she first arrived in Libya. I guess Qadhafi beleives in the phrase “Bring’em young”. There is nothing wrong with aspiring for peace but there is something wrong with letting your ideals be perverted by a perverted man and becoming his play toy. That is all I have to say, thanks for letting me rant a little. This story really got me and it is very sickening that she would let herself be that stupid.
KOOL. It shows that Kaddafi has a tender heart. Few Americans know that he takes in orphans into his own family and home.
Just like the Zendik (Art Music Environmentalist Group ) who take street kids from the city streets and teach them how to farm and to show their beauty and talent as worthwhile human beings.
And YES, the kids are educated – homeschooling is superior to being taught to punch a clock in the generic public school system.
I.m not a ZENDIK , but I knew them personally.
“Kool” so the Zendiks are plying the Internet and putting in a good word for themselves without identifying themselves as such (obviously “kristal” is writng from Zendik H.Q), spreading the party line.
Zendik is a cultic group that lures in dissilusioned youth and messes with their minds until they don’t know what side is up.
Tecca, who spent her childhood at Zendik was easily fooled by Gadhafi’s propaganda because the Zendik “home schooling” does not teach critical thinking. So Tecca didn’t have the critical tools to see through the Libyan’s ruse.
I met Tecca personally. She is beautiful, intelligent and cares for humanity in general. I am glad to see her rewarded with this honor. Maybe if people could learn to open their hearts and minds instead of judge things they really don’t know about, the world could start moving towards peace. As for Zendik farm. Be it a cult or not, they are working toward peace…what’s wrong with that? And homeschooling has proven time and again that it is far superior to most public schools. And I am writing from Park Forest Il. not Zendik. I will gladly debate in person with anyone. You are filthy to belittle such a beautiful person like Teca!
Be it a cult or not, they are working toward peace…what’s wrong with that?
Because you can’t gain real peace through wacko teachings that don’t reflect reality. All you do is cripple people from actually being able to make it in life. They isolate themselves, sing kumbaya, sell some shirts and somehow feel they’re spreading peace to the world.
I will agree with you on homeschooling, since I was homeschooled myself.
You are filthy to belittle such a beautiful person like Teca!
Way to spread the “peace”.
my point especially is, “IF” you don’t know what they do, or why they do it…how can you put it down? Ive been there and lived with them, it wasn’t for me, but I don’t think they are doing anything wrong. The ideas they have are no different from most religions or philosophies. They just want a different way of life, without the extra greed and materialism. I see what is written on the net about the place…most is not true. And I can say that cuz I’ve actually been there. And I still maintain it is filthy to belittle a beautiful girl that has a good heart. Simply, it just is…peace or no peace, its what I think..and again, I don’t live at zendik…my philosophy is different, so I call it like it is….I truly hope people will always look deeper into things, the media often presents only a small biased portion of a topic.
“IF” you don’t know what they do, or why they do it…how can you put it down?
They tell you exactly what they do and why they do it on their site.
The ideas they have are no different from most religions or philosophies.
After reading Wulf’s philosohpy, I would disagree with you. Yes, there are similarities (almost all religions have similarities), but there are also major differences. That’s the whole reason Zendik started up.
They just want a different way of life, without the extra greed and materialism.
While I agree with him that greed and materialism are bad, I don’t agree with him on several other things. A lot of people are looking for a different way of life, but teaching ideas that don’t reflect reality isn’t going to help anyone. It’s going to hurt them if they listen to it long enough.
And I still maintain it is filthy to belittle a beautiful girl that has a good heart.
She may have a good heart, but that has nothing to do with being fooled. In fact, I would say that most people with gentle, good hearts get abused or used in some way. It’s sad, but it’s true.
I truly hope people will always look deeper into things, the media often presents only a small biased portion of a topic.
On this, you and I see eye to eye.
I recently saw this peace on the Miss Net Pageant. The young lady Tecca, who was representing the USA’s heart may be in the correct place, only she truely knows, but she definitely was being manipulated and seemed to be naive, as well as not to really understand the dynamics of the world and the part he Libyan leader played/plays on a global scale with regards to world relations, terrorism, etc. etc. Ultimately I hope she has total loyalty to our country the U.S. and didn’t allow some misleading comments from Libya’s leader to further distort her thinking. There is no better place to live or be from on this planet than America, despite it’s flaws…. commentary from this Black man in America.
I think what Colonel Gadhafi did for Teca is an honor, and she should be rightfully proud of it. For his part he has every right to be angry at President Reagan and Teca and the other contestants were able to see for themselves some of what he was talking about. Unfortunately with Americans being so brainwashed and misinformed about so many things, she may not be able to do much good in her new capacity.
I’m getting pretty tired of the trite, overused statement that Americans are all brainwashed or misinformed. With the Internet available to anyone with a connection, this is impossible to do.
I think what you are meaning to say is anyone with a conservative view of Gadhafi or who doesn’t share your point of view is brainwashed or misinformed.
People will have different ideas. I think it would help if people travelled a bit to other countries and spent some time with the people, not just tourist areas. I think that although the internet is a nice tool, when you open a major IP homesite, such as Yahoo,, the news links are obviously biased, and unfortunately, those are the links the majority click. The news media IS biased, this is obvious, and even more obvious when you view the news from outside of America, as I have many times. So no, not EVERYONE is brainwashed, but the people getting upset and are all hardcore Republican, pro Bush, based on “principal” alone are truly fooling themselves. I don’t look down on you or anyone, I simply ask that people look a bit from outside the box, then make wiser, more well informed decisions about their viewpoint. Anyway, WHERE IS TECA? I suppose this forum ought to end, amazing it is still going after so long, People will believe what they will believe I suppose, lets just open a bit and look into all directions…I am trying, and my mind is not 100% on ANY issue other than PEACE and LOVE for all.
I agree that news from the major US outlets is biased, but all news is biased all over the world. I’ve lived in other countries. I lived in Germany for four years. News there is just as biased as US news. The slant just depends on the country you’re in.
I’m not getting upset because you think I’m hardcore Republican (I’m not), or based on “principal”. I’m just sick of people crowing that the US is a bunch of brainwashed idiots. It’s an untrue, ridiculous claim that does nothing for the debate and makes the accuser look like a misinformed, smug asshole.
I’m not sure where Tecca is now. The last news story I saw on her was only a few days after I posted this article.
In answer to Chris, I stand by my statement that Americans for the most part, are brainwashed and misinformed. They have little understanding of what’s going on, both at home and abroad. The availability of the internet is of little use, when a nation’s entire viewpoint on reality is false and detached from the reality we live in. Americans are doubly cursed, because most of them see themselves as the most advanced and well informed people on earth. Unfortunately the brainwashing which the U.S. mainstream media daily imposes on the public, is so sophisticated, most Americans are completely unaware of its existence. The most effective brainwashing is always found among those who’re unaware they are brainwashed. The pathetic state of the U.S. public, is clearly seen in how easily a moron like Bush, toys and run’s rings around them. Bush is easily among the most despicable leaders on earth. Since people invariably get the government they deserve, the U.S. has Bush and a host of traitors ruling over them, because they’re just too clueless to know any better.
I also stand by my statement that making sweeping generalizations about an entire nation based on your own perceptions is ridiculous and does nothing for the debate.
I guess since you’re the one making the statement, you are somehow enlightened and immune to the “sophisticated” brainwashing so many of your fellow Americans have succumbed to?
If Bush’s ratings were at record highs then your statements might make more sense, but since his ratings are near rock bottom and the Dems swept the last elections, explain to me how Bush runs rings and toys with the public? If the US public dislikes Bush and his handling of nearly everything, where is the brainwashing?
Very interesting, I got a good chuckle out of that one.
