OK, here is the eighth Tengwar Challenge.  This is a poem written by Tolkien in 1915.

in a sipy lost and dead.

a sable hill, rampart crownid….

Is that how you’re reading it? Both “city” and “crowned” are correct. The “e” in “crowned” is phonetically silent.

You’re correct on “ground”, but I’m wondering what the purpose of your comments are. Simply pointing out mistakes with ellipses and offering no constructive feedback is hardly helpful and tends to make you look arrogant.

I’m not sure if you read what the purpose of these challenges was. They were a way for me to practice writing Tengwar and give other people a chance to learn and give constructive critiques. On several other challenges, I’ve had quite a bit of feedback and corrections all of which pointed out variations or correct ways to write out a word.

You’re welcome to leave comments, but try to make them a little more constructive, not only for myself, but for anyone else who comes along afterwards.

I’m new into this so, please bear with me. in this poem i can’t seem to figure out what the letters with the stem ubove and below it is, and the words after impearable if i evenm got that right. can you please help?

If I understand what you mean by “letters with the stem above and below”, those are the symbols for “of” and “the”. “Of” has a line below the double arc, while the does not. There’s also a version that has a double line below the double arc. That is “of the”.

and i’ve looked up the word that i don’t understand. at first i thought it was gaynst, but now i understand it is gainst, is that correct?

Man, it’s been a while since I tried to read Tengwar. I had to go through the whole thing again to figure out what word you were talking about. Are you talking about the third word in the fourth line of the main body? If so, yes. As in ‘gainst.
