The Flu

Well, I’ve been sick with the flu since Christmas Day.  Actually, I think I was already getting sick on Christmas Eve.  We worked outside in the flower beds, trying to remove all the dead plants, and every time I would squat down to pick up some stuff, my legs would shake and my knees hurt.  At first I thought I was suddenly VERY out of shape, but now I realize I was getting sick.

Christmas morning I woke up with a slight cough and felt tired, like I had run a marathon the day before.  We opened presents and had Christmas lunch and I still felt ok.  Around 5:30 though, that changed in a hurry.  I felt awful.  Just about every muscle and joint in my body ached.  My cough was worse.  I felt feverish, swinging between freezing and burning up.  And it stayed that way until yesterday morning.

I’m not feverish anymore, but my cough is still with me and I have a horrible cold and sore throat.  Hopefully the cold will go away in a couple days at most and I can get back to normal again.

One scary thing about the flu this year is that it seems to be deadly in this area for older people.  My grandfather got it as well, about the same time I did, and he might have to go to the hospital soon.  I hope he pulls through it fine.
