The generosity of the Maasai

15 head of cattle.  It may not seem like much, but it was worth a whole lot to the Maasai tribespeople who gave them to the US to show sympathy for people lost in the 9/11 tragedy.  I was very moved by it.

Kimeli Naiyomah, a Kenyan student at the University of Oregon, was in New York when the attacks occurred.  As a Maasai, they respond to emergencies and warcries as warriors, but he felt he could do nothing at the time.  When he went back to Kenya, he told his fellow Maasai about the attacks and they were moved by his account of it.  They decided to give the US 15 cows, which are their most prized possessions, to show support for us.

I think this is amazing and offer my thanks and appreciation to them.  I don’t think they’ll ever see this post, but I thank them anyway.
