The Holidays Are Rapidly Approaching

The holidays, and all they entail, are rapidly approaching. Christmas ads are already bombarding us on nearly every channel. I think they started exactly at 12:01am, November 1. It certainly seems that way.

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy Christmas and Thanksgiving, I just hate the huge commercialization of everything. Especially the really stupid, unrealistic ads from jewelers and carmakers. Every time I see the Lexus ads, I get pissed. How many people are going to buy their daughter a freakin’ Lexus for Christmas?! One in a million, if that! I’ll drop the TV ads, otherwise I’ll end up venting for several pages.

One of the things I enjoy the most is the change in the season. I kind of enjoy chilly weather. Not bone-freezing, overcast, drizzly weather, but clear, chilly days are kind of nice. I like seeing the leaves change and cover everything in pretty colors. Even after the leaves fall, you can look forward to spring when it really gets colorful. The seasonal changes was one of the main things I missed when I lived in Hawaii.

I also enjoy family get-togethers. We have quite a few family members coming in from across the US in a couple days. Many of them will be staying with us. Others will be staying with my grandparents. I’m looking forward to everyone being here. It will be a nice change in pace.

So, while there are definitely some things I hate about this time of year, I’m really looking forward to it.

Yeah, sleeping on the mattress from hell was great! It did wonders for my back. It’s a good thing Michael was there to show us stretches or I’d have probably lost sensation in my legs by today.

Actually, it was a lot of fun having all of you over.
