The Iraq/U.S. Anthrax Case

I’m sure you’ve heard or read the “fact” that the US gave Iraq its anthrax back in the 1980s.  Many lefties use this to say the US basically started the Iraqi bio-warfare department.  I had read and heard it so much, I was duped into believing it.  Now, I don’t anymore.  Rich Lowry, at National Review Online, brings up some interesting points about the whole issue.  For one, France also gave Iraq anthrax strains.  In fact, the Paris-based Pasteur Institute is the one who gave it to them.  So it’s just as accurate to claim France started Iraqi bio-warfare as to claim the US did it.  Another point is that anthrax is naturally available.  In fact, it’s found in sheep in every area of the world, including Iraq.

This is an excellent article debunking some of the endless drivel coming from the anti-anything-and-everything US crowd.
