The JiangLing Landwind aka Deathtrap

Images from crash testsChina’s first car to be sold in Europe is from a company called JiangLing. It’s an SUV called the Landwind, and it looks kind of like an older Ford Explorer. It’s selling for about 30% less than any of its competitors, which should make them a little nervous.

It’s the buyers of the car that should be nervous though. REALLY nervous. Germany’s ADAC gave the car a 0 (zero) in its car safety testing. That’s the worst score they’ve given any automobile. In their 20 year history, they’ve never given any car that rating. They said they’re going to wait until the official EU verdict, but they are already recommending against buying it.

You can watch slow-motion video from the crash tests the ADAC performed. There’s one from the outside, and one from the inside. Watch the dashboard on the inside video. The steering wheel ends up where the passengers head used to be.

Granted this is the car company’s first car sold outside of China, but if this is an example of what Chinese cars are like, I don’t know how they sell any of them. It’s as bad as a car from the late 70’s. Maybe it’s a form of population control?

I can’t believe someone in the great “yonder” has actually been to Nadine’s lots of times! What brought you out to Lockesburg?

The town is booming. It’s population is a whopping 711 now.

LOL Yep, I figured the population would increase, alot of new people were moving there in 1995 when I last visited. I lived in Texarkana for awhile in 1982 and found Lockesburg and Nadine’s Cafe back then. Small World huh? How long have you lived there?

Sorry about the late response. My site was down for a while yesterday.

I haven’t lived here very long. I helped my parents move here nine years ago before I went overseas. I moved back here about five years ago. I like the slow, relaxed pace of life out here. I also love the trees and open fields. And the cheap cost of living is always nice too. I don’t miss city living at all.

One thing I do miss is the social aspect. There’s nothing near this area for people my age. No place to meet up with others and do fun things. I hardly know anyone my age around here. I’d have to travel down to Texarkana before I’d find a decent group.

Glad you got your site back up. I know what you mean about the social aspect of Lockesburg!! It is a nice little town and is very slow and relaxed. I really enjoyed living in Texarkana…lived at the Haystack Apartments. I often wonder what all is still there! Do you know Nadine and Dale? I remember Carol, Joanne and Terry – Nadine’s kids. I’m sure Carol and Joanne still live there but not sure about Terry. I don’t even know if Nadine and Dale are still together!! LOL Oh well, it’s nice to chat with someone so close but yet so far away! Good to hear back from you.

You know, the whole time I’ve lived here, I think I’ve eaten at Nadine’s maybe twice. They have decent food, I just never go to Lockesburg to eat out. I know there are a LOT of people that do eat at Nadine’s though, and have been for years.

I don’t know Nadine or Dale or their kids. Sorry.
