Garret at dangerousmeta! points to an Indian Times article that says the US will be using an experimental 21,000 pound mega-bomb called MOAB. MOAB stands for “Massive Ordnance Air Burst” and is the BIGGER brother of the (in)famous 15,000 pound “Daisy Cutter” mega-bomb used in Vietnam and Afghanistan. MOAB is satellite guided and creates a blast similar to a small nuke. The only targets it can be used on are large groupings of tanks or for obliterating command centers in one fell swoop!
Holy. Cow. I’ve seen video of a “Daisy Cutter” going off. It’s one of the biggest explosions I’ve EVER seen. And the MOAB is even bigger. If anything, this will totally demoralize the Iraqi troops.
