The State of the Union

I was away when Bush gave the State of the Union speech, so I was just able to catch it a little while ago.  I think Bush did a great job and laid out the case against Saddam very clearly.  I have no doubt the UN will back a war, if necessary (which I think it will be).  Bush touched on lots of important subjects including the economy, the environment, healthcare, AIDS and Iraq.

During his speech, I think I began to understand his reasoning for dealing with Saddam in a different fashion than Kim of North Korea.  Both have and/or are producing weapons of mass destruction, but only Saddam has actually used them.  He represents a greater threat because of his close ties to terrorist organizations.  He represents a greater threat because of the region he’s in.  If Saddam were to gain control of the Middle East, he would control the world.  We can’t allow that to happen.

In case you want to read the entire speech, CNN has it posted on their site.
