The Two Towers

I finally saw The Two Towers in the theater yesterday. Wow! The effects in it were awesome! Gollum was the best CGI character in any movie so far. I watched for the usual mistakes like the mouth not moving quite right and the character not moving correctly with the natural terrain, but there were no mistakes. And the actor behind Gollum did an AWESOME job! He should be nominated for an Oscar.
I was REALLY looking forward to seeing the Ents, since they’re some of my favorite characters in the book. The movie didn’t disappoint there either. I loved the way Treebeard looked, sounded and moved. Very much like the book. They kicked some serious butt in the movie too. I WAS disappointed that they never showed the Ents breaking apart the outer wall with their hands like they did in the book. That was one of the coolest parts of the story. Also, they skipped about 50% of the story involving the Ents. I guess they had to since the book is so long.
The fight between Gandalf and the Balrog was good, but I wished they had shown more. Showing them fighting while they were falling was awesome. The Balrog was also one of my favorite characters out of the trilogy.
They changed the story quite a bit from the book. That is the one qualm I have with it. These were major changes too. Overall, though, I think it’s as good if not a little better than the first movie. I will DEFINITELY buy it when it comes out on DVD .
