I’m getting the redesign bug again, but this time I’m not only wanting to redesign the look of the site, I’m wanting to redo all the underlying code and restructure the site too. That’s a fair amount of work, and I can’t seem to bring myself to do it once I’m done with my paid work in the day.
In the course of working on the guts of a lot of clients’ sites in the last few years, I’ve learned better ways to structure and code an EE-driven site. My personal site was initially coded back when EE first came out, and has really only undergone minor structural change. It needs to be updated and optimized… badly.
And I no longer have a site-wide search page which is a giant no-no if you want a decent site. If someone happens to stumble upon this site and wants to find what else I have to say about every guy’s dream, they’re screwed.
Plus, I’ve recently discovered the joys of working with a little JavaScript library called jQuery. It makes working with JavaScript fun again. There are some things I’d like to implement on my site, but didn’t because I hated working with JavaScript, especially when it involved the DOM.
I’m not sure when I’ll actually buckle down and get it all done, but hopefully posting this will keep reminding me it needs to be done sooner rather than later.
By the way, for my loyal readers (all three of you), leave me some comments on what you like or don’t like about the site. Also what you think could be improved.
I think that first of all you must change colour appearance
, as for the rest you clever guy and as you’ve told now you have a lot of ideas. So good luck!
