Tink

Shorty and Tink

On Friday, I went and picked out a puppy from a litter of mini-Dachshunds.  Actually, they’ve got a little Chihuahua in them too, but I don’t care about pure blood lines or anything.  I picked out the runt because she was one of the three puppies who came up to me.  The others ran and hid.  Out of the three, one was spoken for and the other didn’t have as nice coloring.

I decided I’d name her Tink, since she’s sooo little.  She won’t even get as big as Shorty, my muscle-bound mini-Dachshund.  She’s got a great personality, lots of spunk and has been really good about potty-training so far (thank God).

She and Shorty are already good buddies and play with each other most of the day.  At first, Shorty was wary of her and even snapped at her a couple times.  Once I got on to him about it, he seemed to warm up to her though.  Now they play tug-of-war with his infamous, green ring (which he plays with religiously).

So it’s nice to have another dog around since Kelsey died a week ago.  Kelsey never played with Shorty though, so I think Shorty is really enjoying having a play-buddy.  When Tink gets bigger, she’ll be able to push Shorty around more.  It’ll be fun to watch her grow up.

What cute dogs!!!! I have a cocker-spaniel/dacshund mix. Her name is Sheba, and boy, does she think she’s a queen!!!

I too have two dogs and it’s fun to watch them play. I think that if I were to graph the amount of care required against the number of dogs, though, the relation would be logarithmic, not linear. (we used to have three dogs)

That’s an incredible picture. You can tell Shorty is a dachshund, so you already know he’s small; yet the puppy looks so tiny in comparison. And she’s all crouched and huddled up like that. Reminds me of Puss-in-Boots in Shrek, who just knew the magic formula for making himself as cute as possible.

Tink is awesome! We’re thinking of getting a Great Dane in the next couple of months.

Yeah, Tink is a great dog. She’s pretty tough to potty train, but she’s getting better.

A Great Dane would be great, but only if you have a lot of room for it to run around in. Otherwise it might be cruel.
