Panic has just updated what I consider to be the best FTP program for OS X, Transmit. This release adds more support for Rendezvous, Apple’s network technology that automatically finds other servers. It also fixes several bugs.
If you want or need an easy to use, stable FTP program, then Transmit is the one to get.
Yes, there are several advantages. Transmit is Cocoa-based, so it’s completely native to OS X. Second, Transmit handles both FTP and Secure FTP, in case you need it. Third, it’s interface is more intuitive and Mac-like. Fourth, it’s a smaller app. Fifth, it has a built-in file editor and easily integrates with your favorite text editor (mine is BBEdit). Sixth, it has a preview drawer so you can easily find a picture. Seventh, I don’t know how much Fetch costs, but $25 is cheap for all that you get.
I have been using Fetch for as long as I can remember. From what I see on their website, Transmit looks pretty cool. Are there, in your opinion, that many advantages over Fetch that I would want to switch? I’m very curious as to what you or anyone else has to say about it.
