Bill Whittle… I don’t know how the man does it, but every time he comes out with a new essay, it’s better than the last (and longer!). This has to be the longest essay in history, entitled Trinity.
In it, he spells out the three main reasons why the US is the world’s lone superpower, what makes it so unique. It is very well written. Part 1 deals with capitalism. He tears apart the liberal argument of “spreading the wealth” along the way. Part 2 deals with freedom and ingenuity. He brings to light how people who want big government basically do not want responsibility. It is a very good essay and is worth the time it takes to read it.
He doesn’t ignore the problems of America, but he doesn’t dwell on them as so many are disposed to do these days. One thing he keeps mentioning is optimism, and how it is essential in what makes Americans so different. I agree wholeheartedly with this. I don’t agree with everything he says in the essay, but as a whole it is a very solid piece… one of his best.
