Adobe has finally released a beta version of Photoshop CS3. It’s nearly a 700 MB download for the Mac, but didn’t take that long to download. Apparently Adobe’s got some fat pipes to the Interweb.
In order to install it, you’ll need a valid CS2 serial number. Installation is a breeze and is actually faster than CS2. In fact, the application in general is MUCH faster on my Intel iMac. Since CS3 is Intel native, it screams compared to CS2. I’ve become so used to the slight delays while using CS2 that I’m constantly surprised at how fast various actions are in CS3. This alone is almost enough to make me upgrade as soon as it comes out.
It has a new look that still contains enough of the old feel and layout to be familiar. The toolbar can be docked or floated and can also be a single column of buttons or the standard two-column format. I like this addition.
The modal windows are docked by default and also collapsed horizontally. Yeah, horizontally, not just vertically. You have the choice of either expanding the entire column out or clicking on a window’s icon to show just that window. When you’re done, click the window’s icon again. This is also a nice addition.
There’s also a new application called Device Central, but I can’t get it to launch. Not sure exactly what it’s for, but I hope to eventually get it launched and find out.
I’m still kicking the tires, but overall I like the new features and look. I especially like the speed increase. Below is a screenshot.
It’s the Saleen S7. FREAKING nice car. Top speed over 200 mph. 0-60 in under 3 seconds… it’s kinda fast. I really, really want one, but I don’t think it would be a good idea for me to actually get one. I would be too tempted to see if it really could go over 200 mph.
Honestly, I could care less about Photoshop…I want the car! Show more pics of the car! : )
