Ah, the list of wonderful things the Iraqi regime has done for the Iraqi people continues to grow. Sports Illustrated has a story on Uday Hussein and his terror tactics with the Iraqi sports community. Athletes are tortured and sometimes killed if they don’t do well in sporting events. Because of this, the Iraqi sports community has become almost non-existant. No one wants to compete because they will be tortured or killed if they do bad. No one is exempt either.
One time, after a friendly [match] against Jordan in Amman that we lost 2-0, Uday had me and three teammates taken to the prison. When we arrived, they took off our shirts, tied our feet together and pulled our knees over a bar as we lay on our backs. Then they dragged us over pavement and concrete, pulling the skin off our backs. Then they pulled us through a sandpit to get sand in our backs. Finally, they made us climb a ladder and jump into a vat of raw sewage. They wanted to get our wounds infected. The next day, and for every day we were there, they beat our feet. My punishment, because I was a star player, was 20 [lashings] per day. I asked the guard how he could ever forgive himself. He laughed and told me if he didn’t do this, Uday would do it to him. Uday made us athletes an example. He believed that if people saw he was not afraid to beat a hero, that they would live in greater fear.
Uday sounds like a great guy. Of course, he’s learned it all from Saddam, his father - the loving and caring “father” of the Iraqi people. It’s time to get those people out of there. I know this is politically incorrect, but I hope Saddam and his sons die slow, painful deaths.
Yeah, for some people, a long, miserable life is a better punishment than death. I agree that both of his sons died too easily. They died heroes in the eyes of Saddam and his followers, which is a bad thing. Still, perhaps Saddam will not be put to death but forced to have a hard and miserable life for the rest of his days. The only problem I can see that it might make is that his followers won’t give up while he’s alive.
Thank you for supporting my comment, We must find and cut all funding sources and hunt Saddam’s supporters down. Iraqis must be united in their objectives and should not let personal agendas and egos get in the way of clear thinking and selfless decision making. Iraq must have a Vision. And must make use of every national rescores to create a free, politically stable, modern and sophisticated Iraq to bring back some respect and enhance the reputation. The blood of all the innocent people Iraqis and foreign must not go to waste.
My friend, I support you and fully agree with you, it is just too bad that both his sons died the easy death that they did.
Saddam Hussain and every member and supporter of him and his family should live and feel the combined pain and suffering that all Iraqis and other victims have felt for the remaining of their miserable lives.
May god give strength to you and all other honorable Iraqi’s.
Let The New Iraq Win. It is our Iraq and we have it back.
