Varekai

I just saw the new show from Cirque du Soleil on Bravo.  It’s called Varekai, and it’s pretty good.  One of the first acts is a group of men who toss and tumble and flip each other using just their legs and feet.  It’s amazing.  You’d have to have buns of steel to not get hurt.  Most of the performers are amazingly fit anyway.  You have to be to do the things they do.

There’s a juggler who has to be one of the most talented in the world.  He juggles, spins and twirls all kinds of things using his hands, feet, head and even his mouth!

There’s a clown duo that are hilarious too.  They do one act where the guy is trying to sing a love song in the spotlight, but the spotlight keeps moving.  He’s running around trying to stay in the spotlight and still keep singing his song.  It had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.

The show centers on Icarus and his rebirth.  There’s a woman he chases throughout the show and eventually marries at the end who is not only very beautiful, but she’s amazingly strong and flexible.  Her act near the end was awesome.

Olga, Icarus' wife

I would love to see it live.  I know it’s coming through Dallas sometime next year, but I don’t know when.  That’s a 3+ hour drive for me, but it would be worth it.
