Wellstone’s “Memorial” Service

Rachel Lucas lets it be known exactly how she feels about last night’s “memorial” service for Sen. Wellstone. It was actually a political rally where Republicans and Independents who showed up to pay their respects were booed! What the ****?! All the big-wig, ego masturbating Democrats were there including the Clintons and Jesse Jackson. Later, the same people who were booed were submitted to a horrible political speech asking them to drop their own views and support Wellstone’s! Then when the booed officials left, the Dems criticized them for it afterwards!! This is absolutely disgusting… in many, many ways. It completely disrespects Wellstone and his family as well as those who came to genuinely pay their respects.

I have been one of the most anti-Wellstone people in the state of Minnesota for the past 12 years. More than anything, I wanted to see him removed from office… through the electoral process. It was very shocking and sad when word spread that he was killed in a plane crash.
I watched the memorial service in it’s entirety, and in the beginning I thought it was great how Americans from all walks of life, religious, and political beliefs, could put aside their differences and pay their respects for a fellow human being. I was even impressed at the large number of Muslims there to honor a fallen Jew. But, half way through what was starting out as a decent memorial, things turned ugly. I can understand Wellstone’s sons being caught up in the passion of the moment, especially after losing 3 family members, but other speakers there should have known better.
After the service was over, I couldn’t help but wonder, what kind of people go out of their way to attack someone who has put aside his political beliefs and who just as a human being did what he thought was the right thing to do by paying their respects to another human being who has lost his life? There were many Democrats here in Minnesota that were ashamed of what happened that night, but the media is playing that down…. of course.
