What is The Pyramid?

On our way back from Kentucky, I managed to get a decent picture of a building in Memphis, Tennessee simply called “The Pyramid” on our map.  It’s right on the Mississippi River.  You can see it for miles around on a clear day.  I was trying to figure out what the building was used for.  It’s quite big.  Could easily handle a LOT of people.  Does anyone know what the building is used for?

well i thinkk this pyramid is mainly for the memphis grizzlies,they used it for american idol this year
