Well, I said I was going to try my hand at creating a Pepper for Mint, and I did it much quicker than I thought I would. It’s called Who’s Talking?, and it hooks directly into the ExpressionEngine backend of my site to pull in information about the latest comments on my site.
Each row displays the author’s name and IP, a link to the entry they commented on and a relative date when they made the comment. If you click on a row, it will expand to show you a snippet of their comment, and an exact date it was made.
It also utilizes Rick’s brand spankin’ new IP-to-Nation additions to ExpressionEngine to get the country flags.
All-in-all, Shaun’s made it very easy to create Peppers for Mint. I’ve already got other ideas for EE-based Peppers. I might make another one this weekend.
If anyone has ideas for an EE-centric Pepper, let me know. I’m beginning to think selling Mint as a stats package to clients with EE-based sites could be a cool combination. There could be some really great ways to display all that data.
Version 0.6: I’ve reworked the backend quite a bit. It now uses plugins, so that means that others can write plugins for WordPress or TextPattern if they want. If any brave soul wants to try and write a plugin, leave a comment and I’ll get you rolling.
There’s a good tutorial on how to do it here. In fact, the EEWiki in general is a very good place to look when you’re wanting to do some customization.
This looks really good. I have been using EE for a long while now, and since yesterday Mint is taking care of my stat needs as well. Any chance to download and use / test this pepper? Or am I missing the “click here to download” link?
ps> I have noticed that there is no obvious way to contact you from your site. Might be me just not seeing it though.
You guys should probably download and try out the Blog Comments pepper. It does what mine does, but is easier to setup.
Wow! Looks like a really interesting Pepper for my EE sites…
Keep up the good work!
