Why We Need Echo

Ben and Mena Trott have written an article on why we need EchoEcho is the proposed alternative to RSS.  The points made by the Trott’s are:

  1. The RSS spec does not say how to encode content.
  2. XML-RPC is severely lacking in internationalization (I18N) support.
  3. Content is represented differently in an API than it is in a syndicated feed.
  4. Confusion over elements.
  5. No universally-supported and -defined extensions.

It is definitely worth a read.
