This article shows how ill prepared we were to deal with al-Qaida, not only from a strategic standpoint, but also from a political standpoint. The Bush administration was so concerned about other things, that it didn’t seriously think about the terrorist threats to the nation. The missile defense initiative was considering terrorist attacks, but it wasn’t considering the right kind of terrorist attack. Terrorists have very rarely used missiles, and have never used ICBMs. I believe that we should have a missile defense shield, but al-Qaida should’ve been our number one terrorist concern before 9/11. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20, isn’t it?
