If you think I have a lot of extra time on my hands, check out what this guy did on his free time. It’s called the Zombie Infection Simulation. It basically is a Java applet that shows what it would be like for a city of people to be attacked by zombies. Nothing complicated, but it is interesting to see how fast the zombies would infect other people and spread through the city.
I actually found myself rooting for some of the helpless humans trapped in alleyways!
Aaahhh…zombies. I just LOVE that genre. It is both creepy and scary as hell and also fuels my adolescent Mad Max fantasies. Think about it. Your enemy is slow, stupid, smells bad ( so you can locate him if the wind is right ) and can’t really fight back weapons-wise. On the scary side, seeing one of those prowling a field at dusk and having him head towards you, not stopping, just coming, and coming and…( looking around behind me and out the window ) Well…you get the idea. If you’re into the genre check out a book by Max Brooks ( son of Mel ) called The Zombie Survival Handbook. It’s written just like those survival books you see around, with bad drawings the like. It has some scary “reports” in it. The great thing about it is that Brooks does not break character ONCE during the whole book. It’s found in the comedy section of bookstores. Mel Brooks gave it a good compliment by saying, “When you first start reading it you laugh, then by page 35 you’re ready to buy a machete.”
Haha.. believe it or not, I actually wasted a good half hour of my time last night screwing around with this thing. It was interesting and entertaining to say the least. And since it wasn’t LOTR related, it didn’t put me to sleep.
