After seeing the latest edition of Rides, I thought I’d go check out the site of my favorite hot rod designer, Chip Foose. The last time I checked in on the site, it was still under construction. Well, it’s now up and running and looks pretty good.
Chip makes some of the sweetest hot rods I’ve ever seen. And he’s won numerous awards for those hot rods too. The car above is called the Grandmaster, and it’s considered by many to be the perfect hot rod. It’s won many awards including the big one, the Ridler.
I would LOVE for him to work on my car, but know that won’t happen. He’s probably got at least 5 cars he’s working hard on all the time.
Fooses work is amazing. he pays attention to every little detail, and makes the car perfect. that is why he wins so many awards. Few people can bild a car to fooses calliber. but some one you might want to take a look at is troy trepanier, of rad rides by troy. you can check him out at radrides.com. but definately foose kicks boyd,s but by far.
From what I hear and see, Chip and Boyd can both be overbearing pr1cks. I’m glad charley left. He wnted to be with his family but Boyd pushed him so hard that he had no time. Chip pays more and charley has time to himself now. No Bluebear, no charley…..American hotrod is done. Dwane is an ass so I don’t think anyone is going to watch just to see if Roy quits.
Ok guys get the story straight, chip and boyd boils down to this…
Boyd was running the company to the ground, Investors and Creditors had Chip step in and take over, the company was too far trashed to save, so it went bankrupt.
Remember this company boyd is running now is not his first….
Good luck Charlie!
Hey, I saw the grandmaster today because my dad knows Wes Rydell (owner) and his son. We got a tour of the “toy shop” and we got to see the car. IT IS PERFECT! The pin striping is so detailed that not only does it run on the inside of the door but it is even on the door hinge! That is just one little factor that has made that car almost to perfect, Almost.
Boyd & Chip are on different planes. Boyd started out some 30 years ago as a Machinist at Disneyland while building Rods in his Orange County home garage. Regardless of how he comes accross today, Boyd has to be respected becasue he has come “FULL CIRCLE” as a hands-on Hot Rod builder, Sub-contractor, Marketing & Sales Manager, License Negotiator, all around Businessman genius. It’s hilarious to read mis-informed people comment’s that Boyd is an old fart who just walks around barking orders and what not! Boyd is obviousily at a point in his life where he doesn’t have to be a hand-on Hot Rod builder!!!Remember, Boyd Coddington not only created a Hot Rod style that didn’t previousily exist, but he has continuousily raised the Hot Rod building bar to where it’s at today. So, in other words – without Boyd’s awesome contributions, we would not be seeing the incredible works of automotive art that’s around today, regardless of whether it’s a Chip Foose, Troy Trepanier, George McPeet, ect.. creation!!
So how about some freaking respect? Remember, you don’t have to like someone in order to respect thier accomplishments.
Everyone should remember that the shows in which Boyd and Chip and the Teutuls appear are scripted and follow formulas that will guarantee an audience. Who can believe that Paul Senior really yells that much at Junior? Boyd Coddington probably is not as acerbic as he appears on the show. No one would work for him. The exception may be Jesse James. I suspect that Jesse is pretty much as we see him on the show… obnoxious and sophomoric. It’s all just show business babeee! The sad thing is that these people allow themselves to be portrayed as assholes. The money must really be good. Get it now. In today’s world, nobody will remember the details of the shows in a few years and these guys will be coasting with fat bank accounts. I haven’t been offered enough money to forget my ego. When that day comes, I may make the same choice.
ya man that car is so perfect. i live like 8 blocks from wes rydell (the owner) and i am good friends with his son. i have seen all his cars in his “toy shop” many times. it is an awesome collection.
